I am a Ph.D. student in the Eliason lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology

My research interest is in environmental animal physiology. I am interested in understanding the underlying physiological and biochemical mechanisms that enable animals to remain resilient in an ever-changing environment.

I was born and raised in a small town in northern Somalia until my early teens when my family moved to Minnesota. I graduated with a B.A. in Biology with Statistics minor from St. Olaf College in 2020 where I worked with Dr. Anne Walter studying the biochemical adaptation of blue mussels.
